"Every Light I See" is not just a new release.
It is a return, a reconstruction, and a piece of grief turned into sound.
This track began before under a different name.
As RONIS, I first released an earlier version called "In Every Light" on March 12 — my sister's birthday — with my own voice. That version carried the first impact of emotion, the first attempt to translate absence into music.
But some songs are not finished when they are released.
They stay alive. They keep asking for another form.
"Every Light I See" became that second form.
A new direction. New programming. New structure. Changes in the lyrics. More space, more weight, more truth.
It stopped being a revision and became a new song.
The release date — May 29 — was chosen for a reason.
On May 29, 2001, my grandfather passed away.
He was the person who raised me. My paternal figure. The foundation of my childhood. Much of what I am exists because of him, and much of what I could have been still echoes in the things I wish I had listened to more carefully.
On the same date, years later, my uncle Pedro Nascimento — the third son of my grandfather, also a musician, and one of my greatest examples of resilience — also passed away in 2020.
He carried pain quietly, but never lost his smile. He was light even when life was heavy.
And at the center of this song is my sister.
We were not raised together as children, but after my grandfather passed, I moved in with my mother and my four sisters. I am the oldest, and those years built a different kind of closeness.
She loved to sing.
She never recorded a song, but music was part of her life. She sang in church. She loved it deeply. Even with health limitations, she never gave up. She believed until the end that God was with her.
And now she is with Him.
She passed away on December 13 of last year.
Everything happened in one week.
The hospitalization. The discovery of leukemia. The collapse. The goodbye.
Fast. Violent. Final.
Watching my sisters cry. Watching my mother cry.

Watching my sisters cry. Watching my mother cry.
That broke me.
And it still does.
Writing this song was relief, but listening to it still makes me cry.
Because some people do not leave.
They remain in your gestures, your memory, your voice, your silence.
They remain in the way light touches a room.
That is what this song is about.
Not disappearance.
Presence.

Today the sunlight feels like youSoft and warm, breaking throughYour laughter still lives in my mindLike a song the world can't leave behindToday the sunlight feels like youSoft and warm, breaking throughYour laughter still lives in my mindLike a song the world can't leave behindMy hands still reach for airLike you might still be thereI walk past the open doorAnd your name comes back for moreTime keeps moving like it shouldBut some love never fades for goodAnd when the wind begins to riseI swear I hear your voice insideYou're in every lightI see Every wave, every melodyNot gone, just out of sightStill shining in every light(Every light I see)(Every light I see)I see you in every lightI see you in every lightI see you in every lightI see you in every lightSome hearts leave the world too soonLike a star that fades at noonBut every memory you gaveStill moves through me like a waveYour old scarf on the chairStill makes the whole room stareAnd when I laugh, I knowYou’re in the way I glowTime keeps moving like it shouldBut some love never fades for goodAnd when the wind begins to riseI swear I hear your voice insideYou're in every light I seeEvery wave, every melodyNot gone, just out of sightStill shining in every light(Every light I see)(Every light I see)And when the night turns into blueThe sky still feels a bit like youI hold the ache, I hold the graceTill your glow fills up the placeYou're in every light I seeEvery wave, every melodyNot gone, just out of sightStill shining in every lightYou're in every light I seeI see you in every lightNot gone, just out of sightStill shining in every lightIn every lightI still see youIn every lightI still see you
